Orlando Car Suspension and Steering Repair
Your suspension and steering systems govern the comfort of your car's ride, the way it handles on the road, and potentially, how well it handles in an emergency situation.
How Tight Should My Suspension Be?
A tight suspension is best
Have you ever heard the expression that a car "handles like it is on rails." That kind of handling refers to a tight suspension. Some cars come standard with looser suspension, and some drivers prefer the feeling of a loose suspension, but the truth is that a loose makes it easier for a tire to lose traction with the road, and could make it more likely that a driver will lose control of his vehicle.
How Often Does My Suspension Require Maintenance?
Modern suspension systems are low maintenance
Few vehicle have lube points on their suspensions anymore. A driver who drives their car in normal conditions will likely never have an issue with the suspension system in their vehicle. There are some things that can cause a car suspension to wear out prematurely. Constantly driving over speed bumps, railroad tracks or dirt roads can put a strain on a car's suspension, and necessitate shock or strut replacement. Overloading a vehicle (either with too much cargo, or with too many passengers can also put a strain on a suspension system.
Mike Says:
Don't overload your vehicle
If you're the type of person who drives around with lots of stuff in your back seat or in your trunk, not only are you negatively affecting your gas mileage, but you're also putting undue wear and tear on your car's suspension system. Also, if the load is uneavenly distributed, it will affect how well your car steers, especially in an emergency.
