Orlando Auto Electronics Diagnosis and Repair

While the electrical system includes the battery, alternator, and starter, the term car electronics refers to onboard car computers and the sensors and motors that they power. Almost everything on modern vehicles are governed by your car's onboard computers.

How Do You Perform Auto Computer Diagnostics?

Talk to the car's onboard computer with an auto computer scanner

Modern automobiles have several onboard computers that monitor even more modules. The 2007 Chevy Tahoe, for example relies on 2 computers operated by 17 modules. When a problem arises, we plug special diagnostic computers into your car, and with the help of over 700 trouble codes, we can narrow down what and where the problem is.

How Often Do I Need Car Electronics Maintenance?

You don't need to do anything until there is a problem

The Electronics on cars are remarkably reliable, and there's nothing you need to do as a responsible driver to keep your electronics operating. However, when you get an indicator light or when something stops working you need a qualified auto electronics repair technician with the right diagnostic equipment to find and fix the problem.

Don't let someone from the auto part store reset clear your computer

When the check engine light comes on, it means something in your car is not working as it is intended. To find the problem, we plug a car computer scanner into your system so we can read the trouble code. Even though there are over 700 trouble codes, each code only reveals a general area and nature of the problem. For further clues we look to the car's onboard computer, which records a snap shot of all the conditions your car was experiencing when the event that triggered the check engine light occurred. It answers questions such as "What was the temperature of the engine?" or "How fast was the car going." The answers help us pinpoint the problem.

Many auto parts stores will hook an automotive scanner to your car for free and tell you all the trouble codes relevant to your vehicle. There is nothing inherently wrong with this, but please do not allow the auto parts clerk to reset your car computer. Even if you remember the trouble code, we'll loose the "snap shot" data that is so important to helping us determine the exact nature of your car trouble. For the best automotive service, take you car to a trained automotive repair technician.
